Cable Triceps Pushdown
- Reps
- 10–15
- Kit
- Cable machine
How to do it
- 1
Set the pulley to the top position and clip on a rope or straight bar. Stand tall with your elbows tucked close to your sides and your forearms bent up toward your chest.
- 2
Breathe in as you keep your upper arms still and your chest lifted.
- 3
Breathe out as you press the attachment down toward your thighs until your arms are straight.
- 4
Breathe in as you bend your elbows and bring the attachment back up slowly — that's one rep.
Where you should feel it: The back of your upper arms.
What your coach says mid-set
- “Elbows pinned to your sides”
- “Press down until arms are straight”
- “Let it back up slowly”
Common mistakes
Elbows drifting forward
Pin your elbows to your sides so only your forearms move.
Leaning on the bar with your body
Stand tall and go lighter so your arms press the weight down, not your body.
Felt it somewhere else?
Where did you feel it?
Stop just short of fully straight and go lighter. Slow reps in a shorter range feel better here.
