- Kettlebell
How to do it
- 1
Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding the kettlebell in front of you by the handle with one hand.
- 2
Pass the bell to your other hand behind your back, then bring it back around to the front — one full circle around your body.
- 3
Breathe steadily throughout — don't hold your breath.
- 4
Complete the set in one direction, then reverse and repeat the other way.
Where you should feel it: Your middle working to hold you still.
What your coach says mid-set
- “Hips face forward the whole time”
- “Move slow, no swinging”
- “Breathe the whole way around”
Common mistakes
Leaning and twisting as the bell passes behind
Stand tall and keep your hips facing forward. Only the bell travels around you.
Rushing the handoff behind your back
Slow down. Pass the bell hand to hand with control, not a toss.
Holding your breath
Keep breathing the whole circle. Breathe out as the bell passes behind you.
Felt it somewhere else?
Where did you feel it?
Go lighter and keep your ribs stacked over your hips. If you lean to make room for the bell, it is too heavy.
Hold the handle deep in your palm and slow the handoff down.
