Pilates Roll Up
- Reps
- 10โ15
How to do it
- 1
Lie flat on your back with your legs straight and arms reaching overhead on the floor.
- 2
Breathe in as you lift your arms up toward the ceiling and tuck your chin slightly.
- 3
Breathe out as you peel your spine off the floor one bone at a time โ reaching your hands toward your toes.
- 4
Reverse the movement slowly โ lower back down one bone at a time, arms overhead. That's one rep.
Where you should feel it: Deep in your belly, front of your middle.
What your coach says mid-set
- โPeel up one bone at a timeโ
- โSlow on the way down tooโ
- โBreathe out as you curl upโ
Common mistakes
Jerking up with momentum
Slow down and curl up one bone at a time. If you have to swing, only come up halfway.
Legs lifting off the floor
Press the backs of your legs into the floor and come up smaller.
Dropping back down in one piece
Lower just as slowly as you came up. The way down is half the exercise.

Where did you feel it?
Only come up halfway and keep the curl round. A smaller slow rep beats a full fast one.
Tuck your chin lightly and reach your hands forward. Do not pull your head up.
