The MrBeast Couple's Routine, and How to Copy It Without Moving Into a Compound

October 25, 2026

Sara and Tre lost 160 pounds between them in 163 days, and the first time their families saw them was at their own wedding. They did coached workouts most days with a big focus on the deadlift, walked a lot, cooked at home and had a weigh-in and a new challenge every 30 days.

If you watched the video thinking "okay but I have a job and two kids," most of what they did still fits into a normal week.

What happened in the MrBeast "Lose 150 lbs Together" video?

MrBeast offered an engaged couple, Sara and Tre, $250,000 if they could lose 150 pounds between them before their wedding. They lived inside a gym compound he built, with a giant red circle around it. If either of them stepped on the line before they hit 150, they'd leave with nothing (MrBeast on YouTube).

They started at 345 and 249 pounds. On day 163 they'd lost 160 pounds together, 10 more than the goal. Two iFIT trainers, John Peel and Bree Cox, coached them the whole way, and doctors from Function Health checked their blood work along the way (HypeFresh, IBTimes).

With the bonus challenges they took home $350,000 in total. Then they got married on set.

How much weight did Sara and Tre lose, and how fast?

These are the weigh-ins shown in the video, for both of them together.

DayTotal pounds lost (both of them)
3043
6076
90107
120130
150144
163160

That's about 3.4 pounds a week each, on average. The CDC suggests 1 to 2 pounds a week and says people who lose weight that slowly are more likely to keep it off (CDC). Sara and Tre also had a lot to lose, and they had trainers with them every day and doctors checking their blood work, which most of us don't.

The biggest drop was the first month, 43 pounds, and from day 120 to day 150 they only lost 14.

Graph: Sara and Tre passed their goal on day 163. Total pounds lost by both of them at each weigh-in shown in the video. They started at 345 and 249 pounds. Source: MrBeast, "Lose 150 Lbs Together, Win $250,000" (YouTube, Oct 2026).

What workouts did the MrBeast couple do?

The video shows bits of their program here and there.

  • They tested themselves on day one. Push-ups, one lap around the track as fast as they could, and a dead hang from a bar. Sara could do one push-up and could barely hang at all. The trainers used those numbers as the starting line and kept retesting them.
  • The deadlift was the main event. For a $50,000 bonus, they had to deadlift 320 pounds together and hold it for a minute on day 60. Their trainer said they'd focus on it about three days a week. Before the challenge, one of them had never picked up more than a 5-pound dumbbell. They did it.
  • They walked a lot. On one day early on, Tre hit 15,600 steps. During the 30 days they were split up, Sara said there was nothing else to do "but walk."
  • Conditioning came from the challenges. They pulled a truck around the circle 150 times in 30 days, about five laps a day, and trained on a cargo net for a helicopter climb on day 90.
  • Some of the bonus goals were fitness goals. For $25,000 each, Tre had to do 30 push-ups in a row and Sara had to hang from a bar for a full minute. She started at about a second.

That last one is the part I'd steal first. Sara's dead hang went from basically zero to a full minute, and you can track something like that yourself with a stopwatch and a bar.

What did they eat?

The video doesn't give a meal plan or a calorie number, but a few weeks in you see them cooking beef and vegetables together at home.

If you want a number to start with, I'd aim for about 1.6 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight a day. That's where muscle gains leveled off in a big meta-analysis on protein and strength training, and if you're eating less right now, there's more on that in how to keep muscle in a calorie deficit.

Did they use Ozempic or any other weight loss drug?

Nothing in the video or the coverage mentions Ozempic or any other weight loss drug.

How do you copy their routine in about 4 hours a week?

Here's the same idea squeezed into a normal week, using stuff most gyms have.

DayWhat to doTime
MonStrength A: deadlift or Romanian deadlift, push-up, lat pulldown, plank35 min
TueBrisk walk45 min
WedStrength B: goblet squat, dumbbell bench press, seated cable row, dead bug35 min
ThuWalk, or a hilly one if you've got the energy45 min
FriStrength C: hip thrust, lunges, dumbbell shoulder press, a dead hang35 min
SatSomething active you like, like a hike or a bike ride60 min
SunRest

The CDC recommends 150 minutes of moderate activity a week plus strength training on at least 2 days (CDC), and this week covers both, with three strength days plus two walks and a Saturday hike or ride that add up to 150 minutes.

I'd borrow these from them, scaled down to a normal week:

  • I'd pick two tests on day one. Most push-ups in a row (from your knees or against a counter is fine) and your longest dead hang. I'd retest every 30 days, the same way Sara and Tre had a weigh-in and a new challenge every 30 days.
  • I'd give the deadlift its own goal. If you want a number, I'd write down what you can deadlift for 5 good reps now and try to beat it at your next test. Your coach can build the plan toward it, and if a week falls apart you can ask it to rework the rest of the month.
  • I'd count steps. The walking added up a lot for them.
  • I'd find a buddy. Sara said doing it without Tre would've been impossible. If your partner won't join, a friend you text after every workout works too.

What about the hard weeks?

Around day 35, Sara's motivation started fading. "I've been doing this for 39 days after spending 27 years not doing any of this," she said. Their workouts slipped, and then they had to double up to catch up.

When the middle gets hard like that, I'd make the next workout smaller before I'd skip it. In Talala, you can tell your coach you've only got 20 minutes and it can change today's session right then, so a bad week still has workouts in it.

FAQ

How much weight did the MrBeast couple lose?

Sara and Tre lost 160 pounds together in 163 days, starting at 345 and 249 pounds. The goal was 150.

Who trained Sara and Tre?

John Peel and Bree Cox, two iFIT trainers (IBTimes).

How much money did the MrBeast couple win?

$250,000 for hitting the goal, plus $100,000 from bonus challenges, for $350,000 total. MrBeast also gave them two trucks, a honeymoon and their wedding.

Is losing weight that fast safe?

The CDC suggests 1 to 2 pounds a week for most people (CDC). Sara and Tre lost faster than that, with trainers and doctors watching them the whole time. If you've got a health condition, I'd check with your doctor before trying anything like this.

Can I do this routine at home?

Mostly, yes. Swap the deadlift for a dumbbell or kettlebell version, the lat pulldown for a band pulldown, and walk outside. The tests (push-ups and a dead hang) just need a counter and a pull-up bar or a sturdy playground bar.

Note: this isn't medical advice. If something hurts or you're postpartum, check with a doctor or physio first.
